Welcome to the Devon Tavern

History

The Grand Central hotel was opened in 1879, before being sold to the Ashburton Licensing Trust* in 1950. As a result, the hotel was renamed The Devon Tavern, keeping with the connection to the English county that began with the town's naming, Ashburton.

We are very proud to say that the Devon Tavern is one of Ashburton's longest serving pubs.

With its warm atmosphere, welcoming hospitality, you will feel right at home from the minute you walk in the door.

Feeney's Garden Bar & Function Room

In 1977 the Devon opened the first family bar in the area, providing a popular addition where families could relax together. It was during this time that Feeney's was established, which was named after Pat Feeney, the first bar manager at The Devon.

Feeney's is a separate function room, off the main bar, catering to many different types of functions. Including but not limited too; Birthdays, 21st, Engagements, Meetings, Seminars, Weddings & Work Events. Featuring a well manicured garden, Feeny's has a wonderful indoor/outdoor flow.
